New rail construction contracts worth nearly EUR 40 million

GRK has already won more than 20 new projects from the track construction and design contracts offered in May–June. The new works represent in many ways the work of the entire industry on railways, metro construction and trams, and also planning.

The total value of the contracts is almost 40 million euros. “The excellent success in the tenders has been due to the excellent calculation work done by the tender calculator and GRK’s competitive prices,” rejoices Mikko Nyhä, CEO of GRK Rail Oy.

The most significant contracts won are the Ylivieska–Iisalmi MRU, the Vuokatti–Kontiomäki superstructure contract, and improving the safety of level crossings at Ylivieska–Iisalmi. The total value of these is more than 22 million euros. All three contracts are related to the investments in the Kemi bioproduct factory, but in addition to the factory, they also contribute to making railway traffic more efficient for other infrastructure users in Kainuu, Northern Savo and Northern Finland.

The contracts were already implemented during Midsummer, such as the replacement of the Lahdenperä switches in the picture.
