GRK to carry out track work in the Pasila area

The track and street modifications relating to the City of Helsinki’s From Kalasatama to Pasila -project in the Pasila area are moving to the implementation phase and the work for this part has been commissioned from Karaatti Alliance. The alliance’s service providers are GRK Infra Oy, GRK Rail Oy and AFRY Finland Oy, as well as appointed subcontractors, FLOU Oy and Landscape Architecture Office Näkymä Oy.

GRK Rail Oy’s share of the project includes the installation of tramway tracks and switches, as well as technical systems such as the overhead line. The total value of the contract is EUR 20 million, of which the rail construction accounts for about one third. The current order does not yet concern the new tramway line; however, as a related project, it plays a role in the development of the existing tramway network in Pasila.

The target costs for the other areas of the From Kalasatama to Pasila -project will be finalised in the autumn and new orders are expected at the end of the year. The track work in Pasila makes up around one third of GRK Rail’s share of the whole From Kalasatama to Pasila -project. In addition to the track work on Karaatti’s own sections, GRK Rail is building four electricity supply stations along the entire route. The work will be spread over the next three years and the new tram line will be operational in 2024.
