Carl Andersson appointed as CEO of GRK’s country company in Sweden

Carl Andersson has been appointed as CEO of GRK Sverige AB and member of the GRK Group Management Team. He will succeed Mika Mäenpää, who will become the CEO of the entire GRK Group. Andersson has extensive experience in the construction industry and has worked at GRK for several years.

According to the current estimate, Carl Andersson will start as CEO of the country company in Sweden by 30 September 2025, when Mika Mäenpää will become CEO of GRK Infra Oyj and GRK Suomi Oy. At the same time, Andersson will also become a member of the GRK Group Management Team.

Carl Andersson has worked as a project manager at GRK’s Swedish country company since 2020. Andersson has strong expertise and extensive experience in the construction industry. Prior to joining GRK, he worked at BDX, a company specialising in logistics, contracting and industrial services, and for several years before that at the construction company Peab.

In accordance with its strategy, GRK has successfully established its presence in northern Swedish in particular and grown profitably in recent years. GRK’s revenue in 2023 was EUR 546 million, of which Sweden’s share was approximately 30 per cent. Sweden’s share of revenue has increased in recent years.

“Andersson is an experienced professional who knows GRK’s operating methods well. He has worked as a project manager in our giant project, where we are currently carrying out foundation and earthworks for our customer Stegra at their new hydrogen and steel plant. The project has progressed well under Andersson’s leadership,” says Mika Mäenpää, current CEO of the country company in Sweden.

“Andersson knows the construction market in Sweden well, as well as GRK’s entrepreneurial culture. There are many interesting opportunities in the Swedish market, for example in green transition projects. I am confident that under Andersson’s leadership, GRK has an excellent opportunity to continue its growth,” Mäenpää says.

First and foremost, I want to thank you for the trust and the opportunity to be a part of GRK’s continued journey in Sweden, and also Mika for the years he worked in Sweden as CEO while I wish him good luck in his role as CEO of the GRK Group.

“What appeals to me most about GRK as a company is the entrepreneurship that exists in every employee and in our culture. We have simplicity at all levels, which contributes to an efficient and profitable business, which I also believe is appreciated by our clients. I have been involved in much of the growth journey we have made in northern Sweden, and I now look forward to continuing our growth in other regions as well. Parts of this journey have already started with our new venture in railways under the leadership of Tomas Rosén,” says Andersson.

Changes in GRK’s management in autumn 2025

In addition to the parent company GRK Infra Oy, the GRK Group comprises the subsidiaries GRK Suomi Oy in Finland, GRK Sverige AB in Sweden and GRK Eesti AS in Estonia.

GRK announced planned changes in the management of the GRK Group in January 2025. The Group’s current CEO, Juha Toimela, will reach the agreed retirement age in 2025, so GRK’s Board of Directors decided to appoint Mika Mäenpää, CEO of GRK Sverige, as the future CEO of the GRK Group.

According to the current estimate, the change of Group CEO will take place by 30 September 2025 at the latest. Juha Toimela will provide Mika Mäenpää support in the transfer of duties until the end of the year, if necessary.  As Mika Mäenpää assumes his new position, Carl Andersson will start as CEO of the country company in Sweden.
