GRK Suomi Oy to initiate change negotiations concerning the rail construction business

Investor News

GRK Suomi Oy will commence an efficiency improvement programme in rail construction to ensure profitable growth and future competitiveness. For this reason, the company is initiating change negotiations in Finland in accordance with the Co-operation Act due to financial and production-related reasons as well as the restructuring of operations.

The aim of the efficiency improvement programme launched by GRK is to generate annual savings of approximately EUR 3 million.  As part of the efficiency improvement programme, GRK Suomi Oy is initiating change negotiations that concern a total of approximately 500 persons. The scope of the change negotiations covers the personnel of GRK Suomi Oy’s rail construction business, i.e. the management,  white-collar and blue-collar workers.

According to the preliminary estimate, the planned measures under consideration may lead to temporary lay-offs of the personnel and the termination of the employment relationships of approximately 20-40 persons. The plan may also lead to organisational changes, as well as changes in duties and their location.

The change negotiations will start on 12 September 2025, and they are intended to be concluded within the statutory deadlines.  The change negotiations are expected to be concluded in early October.

GRK has grown profitably in recent years and the demand in the infrastructure market has been stable. There are opportunities for growth in the infrastructure market, but the market situation and competitive situation vary significantly between different operating countries and businesses.

“Competition has intensified in the rail construction market. To ensure profitable growth and competitiveness in line with our strategy, we are planning to improve the efficiency of operations in the rail construction business and reduce overhead and costs,” says CEO Juha Toimela.

“The initiation of change negotiations comes as difficult news for the personnel of the rail construction business. During the negotiations, we want to find solutions that support the competitiveness of the rail construction business so that the impacts on the personnel will be as minimal as possible.”

GRK will announce the results of the change negotiations after they have been concluded.
