The Jätkäsaari Isthmus Bridge and the Jätkäsaarenlaituri worksite have been selected as Helsinki’s Street Worksite of the Year. In Espoo, the title went to the Urban Railway Area Contract 1, the worksite at Kilo Station.
The winners were announced today, 2 October 2025, at the Earth Construction Day award ceremony. The competition, held in Helsinki for the fifth time, was organised in Espoo for the first time this year.
The purpose of the Street Worksite of the Year competition is to promote good site practices. Between 27 May and 2 October, the competition’s quality inspectors visited the worksites to observe their operations. During their visits, they assessed how well the site had arranged functional traffic management, signage and temporary routes for different types of street users. The site’s overall attitude played a key role in selecting the winner. Throughout the competition, worksites had the opportunity to improve their practices based on the feedback they received from the judging panel.
The competition jury consisted of construction-industry professionals (Infra ry), clients (the Finnish Real Estate Federation and the Association of Building Owners and Construction Clients Rakli ry, the City of Espoo, HSY), city operators (HSL and the Helsinki Region Chamber of Commerce) and accessibility experts (the Finnish Federation of the Visually Impaired and the Finnish Association of People with Physical Disabilities). The jury’s work was coordinated by Ramboll.
